Dr. Russell A. Lamoureux Tuscaloosa, AL, Obituary, Death: Dr. Russell A. Lamoureux, DMD, a beloved dentist, devoted family man, and respected member of the Tuscaloosa community, passed away on April 19, 2025, at the age of 57. His passing marks the end of a life filled with dedication, compassion, and service to others—both personally and professionally.

Born on February 20, 1968, in Fayette, Alabama, Russell was the son of Robert and Bobbie Lamoureux. He graduated from Fayette County High School in 1986 and pursued a career in dentistry, earning his Doctor of Dental Medicine degree from the University of Alabama at Birmingham School of Dentistry in 1993. Shortly thereafter, he established his dental practice in Tuscaloosa, where he faithfully served the community for more than three decades.

Dr. Lamoureux’s reputation for excellence in dentistry was matched only by the kindness and care he extended to each of his patients. Known for his gentle demeanor and thorough approach, he was more than just a healthcare provider—he was a trusted friend to many. His commitment to his work, patients, and the greater good made him a cherished figure in West Alabama.

Outside of his profession, Russell was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in nature. Whether it was hunting, fishing, or simply spending time in the great outdoors, he felt most at peace surrounded by the beauty of Alabama’s natural landscape. Above all, he loved his family and friends deeply and unconditionally. His laughter, wisdom, and warm presence will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

Dr. Lamoureux also gave back generously to his community. He was a regular supporter of the West Alabama Food Bank, an organization he felt strongly about. In honor of his memory, the family kindly encourages continued donations to the Food Bank, ensuring that Russell’s legacy of giving continues to support those in need.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Alfred Sr. and Marie Lamoureux, James and Vera Bowen, and his sister Vallischa Lamoureux. He is survived by his loving children, Russell (Virginia Ann) Lamoureux Jr. and Emma Grace Lamoureux; his parents, Robert and Bobbie Lamoureux of Fayette; his brother Barry (Hope Ann) Lamoureux of Cullman; and by Casey Taylor and Genesis Lee of Tuscaloosa. He also leaves behind three nieces, one nephew, four great nephews, and four great nieces who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.

A visitation will be held at St. Francis of Assisi University Parish in Tuscaloosa on Friday, April 25, 2025, beginning at 2:00 PM, followed by a funeral mass at 3:00 PM. Private interment will take place at a later date. Nelson Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.
